Catlubong

History

a. Etymology

Catlubong derived its name from the vernacular “Ketlabong”, a bamboo-like species of grass that once thrive in a small lake that once existed in sitio Lebeng.

 

b. Establishment of Barangay

Barangay of Catlubong was a consolidated part of Baculongan and Poblacion which was created as a barangay in 1969 by virtue of RA 3590 signed by the late President Ferdinand Marcos

Catlubong composed of 37 sitios namely: Ambakbak, Amanding, Ambanglo, Abbatan, Ba-ay, Balat, Bana-ao, Bekes, Bot-oan, Manhoyohoy, Lebeng, Ponopon, Beka, Gesang, Lemtang, Nasgeb, Mankillet, Lammagan, Kapallan, Bayoyo, Bacquit, Padang, Tattawa, Sel-ak, Ammanong, Takap, Kawasi, Sookan, Paksay, Ponopon, Palakad, Sinmubli, Kamabugao, Ap-apid, Kamanbaka, Nadekkan, and In-oya.
